NEW ORLEANS, LA, January 22, 2010 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Tourists and travelers to New Orleans have a new choice in the bed and breakfast market thanks to the grand opening of Collinwood House Bed and Breakfast. Collinwood House is a fully restored antebellum Italianate, inn situated in Faubourg Marigny, one of New Orleans most historic neighborhoods located within walking distance of the French Quarter.
Newly opened historic New Orleans home
One thing that makes Collinwood House unique is their collection of fine antiques and memorable decor, making it unlike many places you will find in the French Quarter. The home was originally built in the 1850's and is on the National Register of Historic Places. The home features many fine amenities including an exceptionally fine wrought iron corn stalk fence at the front of the property (one of three known in New Orleans).
The home interior has 14 foot ceilings on the ground floor and 12 foot ceilings on the second floor. The 4,400 square feet comprises six guest rooms decorated in period style appointments and complete original decorative mantles.
All bedrooms save one open to a balcony or to the large L-shaped courtyard with brick patio, two covered seating areas, a spa and fish pond. Their newly launched website includes photo galleries of each room along with highlights of the property which can be found throughout.
About Faubourg Marigny
Faubourg Marigny borders the French Quarter and is within walking distance for many popular New Orleans attractions. Existing for over 200 years, the Faubourg Marigny is considered New Orleans' first suburb and is the city's second oldest neighborhood after the French Quarter. Added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1974, it has been designated one of 10 Great Neighborhoods for 2009 by the American Planning Association's Great Places in America program.

Collinwood House is an excellent alternative to hotels and motels for getting a "local's" feel for New Orleans. You can view a gallery of each room, check availability and book rooms online via the company's website
